Volunteer Information

General Volunteers

Little Leagues around the world are run entirely by volunteers — from Board Members and Umpires to Coaches and team helpers. The more volunteers a league has, the better it operates.

Little League International partners with JDP to provide an online platform where leagues can perform background checks through a database of over 450 million records.

How to Volunteer:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Click the Volunteer icon (or the person icon on mobile).
  3. Complete the registration to begin the background check process.
  4. Look for an email from JDP to finalize the background check.
  5. Once approved, you will receive a volunteer badge.

Abuse Awareness Training:

All volunteers must complete annual Abuse Awareness Training. If completed in the Spring, it is valid for both Spring and Fall seasons.

After completion, forward your certificate to the email address provided in your signup confirmation email.

Note: Without both the background check and training completed, you will not be allowed on the field.

Umpire Program

Umpires are a vital part of Little League. Whether you're new to officiating or a seasoned pro, we welcome all levels. We have roles for both adult and junior umpires.

Junior Umpires (Ages 13–17):

  • Typically former players who’ve moved up from the smaller divisions
  • Officiate Coach Pitch games or serve as base/plate umpires in Kid Pitch divisions

Adult Umpires (18+):

  • Current or former coaches, aged-out players, or fans of the game
  • Help provide a great playing experience for our kids

Training: Little League University and FCLL offer rules and mechanics training for all umpires.

Support & Respect: Umpiring is not easy, especially under scrutiny from the stands. We ask everyone to respect our officials — or better yet, become one and help from the field.

Coaching at FCLL

Coaches are the backbone of Fossil Creek Little League’s success. Whether you're a first-time coach or a veteran, we welcome all volunteers. Many of our coaches have been part of the league for over a decade!

We recruit coaches each Fall for both the Fall and following Spring seasons. Volunteers include moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles—anyone ready to lead and support young athletes.

Little League University and our Coaching Coordinator provide valuable training and guidance for all experience levels.

Coach Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and run team practices
